About
us |
|
Snowgoose
made its first flight out of the nest and onto the Web early
in 2001, mostly building web sites for tourism businesses.
We now have a continually expanding portfolio
of sites ranging from accommodation businesses to regional
attractions, arts and crafts, plus some non-uk sites. As a
regionally-based business, most of our clients are based throughout
Northumbria and the North East of England.
Snowgoose
has gained a reputation for offering friendly, honest and
straightforward advice. The Snowgoose policy is to continuously
offer high quality design and simple, easy to use sites at
reasonable prices. We always concentrate on the business needs
of our customers first, building sites which meet those needs
rather than persuading them to use expensive, unecessary and
often (business) damaging technical features (such as Flash
animation, for example). Experience in how the Web really
works and a great deal of common sense are our primary skills.
By
ensuring from day one that all sites are built to be search-engine
friendly, our customers achieve a steadily increasing percentage
of business directly from their Snowgoose web sites, with
some rates as high as 80-90%, depending on their business
sector.

Conceived in late 1999 and established in February 2000, Snowgoose
has worked in partnership with a number of regional organisations
to date, including Learning
World, Northumberland
National Park, Teesside Development Corporation, and Business
Link Northumberland. Our major focus to date has been on
tourism, particularly the accommodation sector. However, Snowgoose
also designs and develops sites for other business types (see
Portfolio - Commercial & Other). |

Marie
Robson -
Sales & Marketing |
Marie has been an ICT professional for more than 23 years.
Her experience ranges from programming and systems/business
analysis through technical, sales and marketing support. She
has been involved in the design, production, and control of
ICT training materials and execution of training courses for
blue chip companies throughout the UK, particularly during
the 7 years she spent with Software
AG. The last five years have seen an increasing emphasis
on the Internet.
Prior to setting up Snowgoose she worked for two years as
project co-ordinator for the Northumbria
Tourist Board's Newsite project (experimental online availability
and booking system, the forerunner to Entic-e). Tasks were
wide-ranging, including the production of marketing, promotional
and awareness materials as well as the total management (planning,
organisation, design, production, delivery) of training workshops
and other exercises to increase Internet and ICT awareness
and use.
Marie always strives for a jargon-free, common sense approach
to computer technology. She has strong communication skills
and a pragmatic approach, demonstrating a particular empathy
with potential and existing users of ICT, including an ability
to persuade, encourage and explain its use in business.

Neil
Gibson -
Web Design |
Neil is the primary designer for all of the sites supplied
by Snowgoose. He is from a freelance photographic and product/graphic
design background, with a BA hons degree in Industrial Design
and 10 years experience with computer technology, including
CAD work and experience with graphics, desktop publishing
and web design software. He also has 15 years experience with
photography, both as a hobby and on a semi-professional level.
This background provides a healthy mix of technical and
artistic experience, making him well suited for web design.
Since the inception of Snowgoose he has worked closely with
all of Snowgoose's customers and has gained valuable insight
into the creation of web copy and editorial for a variety
of businesses, particularly in the accommodation sector.
A perfectionist in his work, he goes to great lengths to
produce individually designed sites which can satisfy even
the most demanding customers. The final site designs are to
the highest achievable standard, designed to be fast, simple
and effective with search engines.
